This week in Destiny, let's talk about our Community Festival of the Lost event, and cover some feedback.
With our most recent weekly reset, Festival of the Lost has concluded.
We would like to thank you all for the incredible support shown throughout the event, the response was nothing short of incredible. Seeing you all participate and climb the candy leaderboards was incredible. Especially seeing Apathy reach 7,000,000. We can officially call her the Candy Queen.
While we do see the event as an incredible success, we have been monitoring the event and collecting feedback, and we're looking at making some changes to events going forward.
Festival of the Lost really was the first event of its kind, and served as a great test run for our Event Hub function, which we rapidly evolved throughout the event, adding features like fireteam syncing and mission attunement.
Really, each event so far has served as a test of some kind for a feature:
We're happy with the features offered by events now, and we're eager to start perfecting these systems. Full transparency, we have 3 events we're running between now and The Dawning, and we're gonna be using them to fine tune the systems ready for The Dawning, where we aim to have addressed all of the main feedback, offering our most complete event experience yet.
We're spacing rewards out a bit more, mainly making the spacing larger at the start and smaller at the end. We don't want gaps of millions of points, so in the future, the largest gap will be 100,000 points.
We're adding a new currency "Chronologs" which can be used to purchase cosmetics from old events.
Chronologs will be earned by overlevelling event passes (which will be able to be infinitely levelled) and will allow you to access the majority of cosmetics from prior events, with a few exceptions.
Particular cosmetics will be able to be purchased with a new currency (name undecided) which will be earned from placing high on event leaderboards. This currency can be used to purchase things like old leaderboard placement badges. This currency will be awarded retroactively.
Some quest cosmetics will be unobtainable, however when an event comes back, these quests will come back as legacy quests with their exclusive cosmetics available to be earned.
The initial line up available in the Chronolog store will feature:
We agree, top 10 is a crazy ask and leads to extreme amounts of playtime poured into events. Going forward, our highest leaderboard bracket will be top 25.
For those who do like to compete for the highest spots, we will still make it worth your while, just with additional placement currencies.
We're using data we collected from Festival of the Lost to bring certain methods in line (looking at you Rumble farming) and make sure no matter where you put your time, you can earn event currencies at a fair pace.
This may take a while to get right, but we are always monitoring it and turning dials for future events.
We're adding multiple paths to gilding, we will offer multiple objectives and ask you to complete a set amount to gild a title. Going forward, you will always be able to gild a title by playing solo, even if it will take more effort than playing in a fireteam.
Going forward, we're somewhat loosening restrictions on event weapon objectives outside of the main event missions.
Additionally, event currencies will be earned from any kills in specific event activities as well as any kills from event weapons and an additional pool of weapons we curate which fit the event's theme.
Example: In Flashpoint: Neomuna, you will earn 1 qubit per kill on Neomuna, or in Neomuna activities. You earn an additional qubit for kills with Neomuna, Root of Nightmares or Strand weapons anywhere in the game.
Restricted repeatable objectives will also use the extended weapon pool. We are doing this as an experiment and are considering other paths based on feedback, but want to see how this plays out first.
Event missions will stay locked in on specific event weapons for now, and Arms Week events will not have extended weapons pools due to the nature of those events.
We're changing how currencies are distributed in Challenge Packs. Below are how we are changing them:
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| 5,000 currency per challenge | 15,000 currency per challenge |
| 35,000 currency completion bonus | no completion bonus |
We're also shifting to releasing Challenge Packs alongside events to fit the themes of the events. We'll be dropping some Neomuna related Challenge Packs with the Flashpoint coming next week.
In future, secret quests will be self contained, featuring event currency, a badge and an emblem as a reward.
Main event quests will only feature the main, featured content of an event.
Currency boosters will be available right from the start of an event.
We will also be splitting these up per featured activity too, so we can offer additional challenges for each of them.
While we'd love to do this, it would require creating a lot more emblems as rewards for these challenges.
Instead, we will offer additional missions in our event currency boosters which serve as rewards for getting close to what the challenge packs ask of you.
For example, for the 15 minute Solo Pit objective in the Challenge Pack, we'd have 16 minute, 18 minute and 20 minute Solo Pit in the currency booster.
Going forward, we are both reducing the amount of currency needed to max out an Event Pass, as well as increasing the amount of currency earnable from objectives during an event.
Once you collect the final cosmetic from an Event Pass, you will be able to infinitely level it beyond that point to collect Chronologs that you can either spend on old event items, or save for the future in case you miss cosmetics from future events. (We will be looking into allowing you to convert these into a general currency in the future, so if you max out every event, we'll still make Chronologs useful to you).
This is something we're actively looking into, and you'll notice us tuning dials as we try to get the balance right through future events. Please bear with us while we get this to where we want it to be.
We will be adding greater clarification to our event mission descriptions to hopefully clear up misconceptions about who needs to use what weapons and how ability kills don't affect weapon restriction runs.
We're looking into this one and will be adding it for a future event.
This one is also being looked at and will be added to a future event.
There will be more in future events that feature attunement. You should probably expect this in The Dawning 2026.
Don't worry, we still plan to utilize this feature, we will be bringing Community Triumph Score out of retirement soon.
Let me cook.
This was mainly intended to be an addition to raid packs that didn't have a master difficulty, but since people enjoy these so much, we will probably offer some form of objective relating to this in the future, not necessarily in a Challenge Pack though.
These puzzles take a long time to develop, the DSC and Spire of the Watcher ones especially. It's not something off the table entirely, but ones on that scale aren't something that will be super frequent, maybe expect those a few times a year maximum.
Rest assured we aren't done with some of the more simple image puzzles though, in fact there's one in this TWID!
We will be doing a mix of PGCR and image puzzles going forwards, that was always the plan, but if people prefer image puzzles, we'll tilt it in favor of image puzzles.
If you have any feedback regarding anything to do with the Community Hub, please let us know in our Discord. We read and consider every single piece of feedback, so please don't be afraid to let us know either in the #Suggestions channel, or privately in a ticket.
Flashpoint: Neomuna is our next event, and our first Flashpoint! It begins at reset on Tuesday November 10th!
It will feature an Event Hub and Event Store as you've all come to expect from our events.
The event will revolve around activities which take place on Neomuna, Neomuna patrol, and Neomuna, Root of Nightmares and Strand weapons.
We will also have a Qubit collection event. Collect qubits to rank up your Event Pass. Place well and earn special rewards.
| Placement | Reward |
|---|---|
| Top 25 | Cosmic Neomuna placement badge |
| Top 50 | Diamond Neomuna placement badge |
| Top 100 | Gold Neomuna placement badge |
| Top 500 | Silver Neomuna placement badge |
| Top 1000 | Bronze Neomuna placement badge |
| Participation | Neomuna Participation badge |
Below, we will preview just a few of the rewards available to earn from the event. There will be a lot more during the actual event:
We hope you all hop in next week to protect the streets of Neomuna and earn some awesome cosmetics for your Community Hub profile.
This event was voted for by our Patrons, the results of the poll are below:
Rest assured, the others will return for future votes.
We're currently holding a vote on which foundry to base our next Arms Week around.
The options can be seen below:
If you're a Patron, you can vote over on our Patreon now. If not, consider supporting us to cast a vote. Event the smallest donation goes a long way to help us cover our server costs.
We are looking at more ways to reward those who support us, and while this is a small step, we're looking at more ways in the future.
In case you haven't heard, Destiny is officially back (in like a year or so). However, with the return of Bungie, we have unfortunately lost official TWID articles.
We aren't going anywhere, but we wanted to take a moment to appreciate everyone at Bungie who helped write TWIDs in the past and gave us something to look forward to most Thursdays.
Thank you.
Unfortunately, we're discontinuing Movie of the Week, Art of the Week and Fashion of the Week.
Sadly we just don't get enough submissions to feature weekly, and with Bungie coming back with their own emblem contests, we'll be letting them take the reigns again.
Thank you to everyone who ever submitted an art piece, video or fashion entry.
For old time's sake, I have one final video and art piece I want to feature in the Community TWIDs:
I got turned into a tangle then exploded by Apathy.
All associated TWID rewards will have a new source in a future update.
We're really starting to pick up the pace with events and updates, so going forwards we'll be making these articles much more about updates to the Community Hub and things we're changing, rather than just the game in general.
Thank you all very much for reading, and until next time, eyes up, guardians.
