Hi! For once it's not Luke writing one of these!
My name is James, otherwise known as ChaosCantrip! I'm the Software Developer for D2CommunityHub. My job here is all the programming side of things - in fact, I built this very website that you're looking at!
While the rest of the team was away being cool at GCX, I was also away from home, just in a much less exciting location - London. I did get engaged while there though, so I can't complain!
Anyhow, away from home, and with a dying laptop and half a keyboard, I've been cooking up some updates for you all, and we're finally ready to show you what we've got coming up!
Introducing...
The Director will be your home for all Missions and Triumphs that we set for the community! We know a lot of you have been asking about Trials of the Light, and we apologise that this update didn't get finished in time to launch alongside the Event, The Director is the answer to all of your questions!
Through this page, you'll be able to see any challenges we've set for you as a community, and your progress in completing them. For Trials of the Light, we've partnered with popularity.report to facilitate tracking your clears, but in future events we hope to be able to take this on ourselves so we can bring you more Events and competitions without taking up too much of their time! (I will get my Gambit Weekend, Luke, and you cannot stop me)
Here, you can see which of the missions you've completed, and claim your rewards from any triumphs associated with them. You can also see I've been slacking, but we're all going to pretend we didn't see that.
As well as Triumphs for Events, we're going to be introducing a series of permanent triumphs to help people engage with D2CommunityHub, and get your profiles looking a little less sparse! As time goes on, we may add more Triumphs to this roster, such as rewards for completing Raids and Dungeons, but we want to get this rolled out first, and we'll see how the community feels about adding to it!.
Yes! I did!
What would be the point in completing all these challenges if we didn't give you shiny little trinkets to show off how cool you are?! As rewards for completing community challenges, we will be giving out cosmetics that you can choose to decorate your profile with. So far, we've got some badges, emblems and banners that you can slap up there, but I'm sure we'll add more in the future! Also, by linking your Discord Account in the Account Settings page, you'll be able to get roles applied in the D2CommunityHub Discord Server.
Here, you can see my profile page! By logging in with your Bungie Account, you'll get one too! Banners go at the top of your profile, and Emblems will be your main background whenever you show up in a leaderboard or anywhere else on the site.
Badges, you can show off in your Badge Showcase, and your favourite three, you can select as your Featured Badges to also follow you around whenever you pop up on the site. We will be adding more profile blocks and cosmetics as time goes on, too.
Those eagle-eyed ones amongst you may have also noticed my Community Triumph Score. Fun fact, I have the highest Community Triumph Score on the site! For now... Please don't usurp me it's all I've got.
Completing Triumphs will grant you points that will stack up that total, so you can show off your dedication to keeping this amazing game and community alive! All of these cosmetics will be selectable with that nifty little "Edit Profile" button at the top, taking you to this menu:
Here, you can choose which Emblems and Banners to use for your profile, select your Featured Badges, and add profile blocks at the bottom to customise and showcase your collection however you like! For now, we only have two profile blocks:
That's all for now!
This new update is still a work in progress, and certain UI elements and rewards may be subject to change in the final release. If you see something wonky, I'll hopefully have fixed it by the time it releases!
We had hoped that we would be able to ship this update alongside Solstice of Legends, but with so much going on we unfortunately had to push it back. I'm working hard to get it finished. Our intention is to release it on Tuesday, 4th August, with the Destiny Weekly Reset. If I get it finished beforehand, we will try to bring it forward, but you'll have it by then at the latest!
For anyone who made it this far, thank you for reading through my rambling. I hope that this update is something that you will all enjoy, and as always, remember - Guardians Make their own Fate
Please forgive my quite frankly stunning thumbnail and banner, our dear Topher is still away from home so I fired up Paint to get the job done
